In 1997 Dr. Christine F. Kreiner founded a small company called Acri.Tec GmbH to develop and manufacture products for ophthalmic surgery. The company was headquartered in Hennigsdorf/Berlin, Germany. In a very short time the company grew and expanded, adding a sales office in Munich, Germany. The product portfolio included a full range of intraocular lenses, ophthalmic implants, solutions for intraocular use such as silicone oil, perfluorocarbons, capsular staining solutions, and viscoelastics. Innovative high standard products were being developed that improved the vision of humans but Acri.Tec also recognized that there was a need to provide the same high quality products to help improve visual care for the animals in our lives. During 2004 a Veterinary division was established within Acri.Tec GmbH to develop a new portfolio of products, using the same high standards and advanced innovative designs, specifically for the Veterinary Ophthalmologist. By 2005 many of the species adapted products such as foldable acrylic intraocular lenses for dogs and cats, viscoelastics, bandage lenses, silicone oil and perfluorocarbons for retinal surgery, and ophthalmic implants were already being sold and used worldwide. Also during 2005 a subsidiary company was established in the U.S. located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Veterinary division continued to focus its efforts on providing products that improved the service and quality of treatments the Veterinary Ophthalmologist was able to give to their clients. With the help and co-operation of Chemists, Universities, and leading Ophthalmologists new products have been and are being developed. The product portfolio now includes the first foldable intraocular lenses for horses, Phacoemulsification systems, ERG systems, and microsurgical instruments specifically for animal use, just to name a few. Late in 2007 Carl Zeiss GmbH purchased Acri.Tec AG but the Veterinary divisions were kept by Dr. Kreiner and became part of her new company S&V Technologies. The veterinary group changed its name to Acrivet and continues to provide the same high quality, innovative products. Acrivet has fast become a trusted leader worldwide in developing, manufacturing, and providing products specifically for Veterinarians and for this we are greatly appreciative to those doctors who have supported our products and provided us their thoughts and ideas that enable us to continue improving and developing the next generation of products. |
